U.S. Homeland Security

This course examines the complex interplay between U.S. national security and homeland security, focusing on threats that arise outside traditional military conflict. Students analyze the key challenges shaped by foreign and transnational actors, including terrorism, violent extremism, cyber threats, border and migration management, transnational crime, and the protection of critical national functions.

The course also explores how legal frameworks, institutional boundaries, and emerging technologies influence homeland security policy and practice. By the end, students gain a broad understanding of the evolving homeland security landscape and its relationship to broader national and global security priorities.
