Qualitative Approaches to Research
This course introduces students to foundational traditions in qualitative research, examining the theoretical frameworks, motivations, and applications that guide qualitative inquiry. Students become conversant in major methodologies, learn to navigate conceptual and ethical issues, and practice designing research proposals focused on topics of personal interest.
While the course centers on developing an understanding of qualitative approaches and proposal components, students will not engage in hands-on data collection or analysis. By the end, students can critically evaluate qualitative methods and articulate well-founded research designs for future application.
