Games for Policy Analysis

This course introduces gaming as a methodological tool for analyzing policy problems and human decisionmaking. Students examine how well-designed games can generate insights for research, strategy, and training while addressing critiques of rigor and validity. The course covers foundational literature, canonical game types, and historical applications in policy contexts. In the applied portion, students design and prototype a simple policy game, gaining experience in translating system dynamics and stakeholder behavior into interactive analytical frameworks.
