Communicating Data and Evidence

This course equips students to translate analysis into clear, persuasive communication for policy audiences. The course focuses on how to present data, research findings, and policy arguments in ways that are accurate, accessible, and decision-relevant. Students learn to write effectively for policymakers and other nontechnical audiences; frame policy problems by conveying their scope, scale, and significance; and use narrative, data visualization, and other communication tools to explain policy options, tradeoffs, and recommendations. Through applied writing and presentation exercises, the course develops students’ ability to turn evidence into compelling policy memos, briefings, and other forms of professional communication.
