AI Policy
This course examines the interplay between artificial intelligence (AI) technology and public policy, focusing on governance approaches for advanced and emerging AI systems with transformative societal, economic, and geopolitical impacts. Students analyze policy mechanisms addressing risks and benefits of AI, evaluate current governance frameworks, and explore methods for forecasting technological evolution and managing uncertainty.
Case studies highlight how AI shapes international relations, regulatory cooperation, and global power dynamics. By the end, students apply policy analysis and foresight tools to assess governance strategies for advanced AI scenarios, integrating technical understanding with policy design to navigate future challenges in AI governance.
Note: This course is open to students in all programs (with priority given to MTP students).
